The main objective is to enhance landscaping and gardening in Finland. The association also acts as a representative of its members and arranges continuous training for them in order to increase their knowledge of urban planning and development.
KPS is a member of IFPRA (International Federation of Parks and Recreation Administration) and GALK (Ständike Konferenz der Gartenamsleiter beim Deutchen Städtetag), and has regulatory co-operation with similar associations in other Scandinavian countries.

The main objectives are to advance Finnish nursery production and trade, and help accomplish professional aims of its members. This it carried out by market promotion, production supervision, and communication between the governmental bodies, different organisations and the members. Information is passed on through newsletters, training, excursions and by writing in the trade magazines.
The association is a member of ISU (Internationale Stauden Union) and it takes part in the Scandinavian nurserymen’s conferences
